THE Camden Haven River foreshore will get a Spring Clean-Up on 26 September.
From 9am, Hastings Landcare group members and local volunteers will collect litter along the pathway from Laurieton’s Marine Rescue Shed, covering the area south to the services club and north to the North Haven Bridge.
The local landcare group’s clean-ups usually attract 20-25 volunteers, but anyone is welcome to take part.
“It’s a very satisfying way to have a walk in the sunshine for a couple of hours and meet other locals,” said Hastings Landcare Volunteer Support, Robyn Camozzato.
“Most people follow the path and its surrounds, but some will pull on gumboots to collect rubbish washed up along the river’s edge.”
Gloves and bags are supplied at the registration table at the shed, where volunteers sign in so they’re covered by Landcare’s insurance.
“The clean-up finishes around 11am, and a bag of rubbish earns you morning tea in the park.” Ms Camozzato said.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring a hat.
There’ll be another clean-up at Wauchope’s Rocks Ferry Reserve on 18 October.
