THE staff of North Haven Pharmacy have put their feet to work and stepped up to raise money for breast cancer research.
The pharmacy’s ‘Pink Pill Posse’ of Leeanne Swan, Kim Mozeley, Joanne Hill and Nicole Morrison took the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Step Up to Breast Cancer challenge, with a goal of each walking 56km during August.
But, the women went above and beyond, walking almost 300km to smash their fundraising goal of $4000 in the process through in-store and online donations.
“We’ve done breast cancer challenges in the past,” Ms Swan said.
“From customers who come into the pharmacy, and from personal contact in our own lives, we know how many families have been touched by breast cancer.
“For us, it’s been a great thing to be able to support people in our community as part of our jobs.”
The 56km target represents the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer daily.
But, the Posse is not stopping just yet. The women are continuing to raise awareness for a cause that means so much to them.
“It’s been a fantastic effort by the girls,” Ms Swan said.
“It’s another example of our local community coming together to support the fight against a disease that affects so many Australians.”
