EARLIER this year, the Rotary Club of Laurieton made a $500 donation to citizen scientists Nette and Andy McCoubrie, founders of The Hollow Project in Dunbogan.
The money went towards the purchase of a wildlife camera used to monitor animal activity at 40 tree hollows.
“The club is supporting important local research and conservation work,” Ms McCoubrie said.
“Each contribution enables us to gather data that will guide future habitat restoration efforts.”
The Rotary Club of Laurieton has been active in the Camden Haven district for the past 60 years, with its members embodying their mission of ‘Service above Self’.
Twice a year, the club holds a book sale, with the funds raised dispersed to a diverse range of community projects.
Earlier this month, club president Caroline Hall announced a new round of grants, with grants of up to $500 made to local not-for-profit organisations.
“We distribute funding raised throughout the year to both local and international projects,” Ms Hall said.
More than $18,500 was issued in 2025/26 to local organisations, including Camden Haven High School, Kendall Show, Laurieton Men’s Shed, Senior Citizens, Food Connect, Rotary Lodge, the SES, Marine Rescue, Westpac Helicopter, several RFS units, and Community @ 3.
