Late councillor Lisa Intemann to be honoured in 2027 Port Macquarie Hastings citizenship awards

LATE Wauchope councillor Lisa Intemann will be honoured with the naming of the Lisa Intemann Community Spirit Award in next year’s Citizen of the Year Awards.

The award will be presented to the individual, community group or organisation judged to have made a significant contribution to community life in the Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Camden Haven, or the surrounding local government area.

Port Macquarie Hastings Council has invited those communities to nominate outstanding local individuals, groups and organisations for the 2027 awards before nominations close on Monday, 30 November.

The awards will be presented as part of Australia Day celebrations on 26 January 2027.

The Lisa Intemann Community Spirit Award was unanimously supported by the council at the October meeting.

Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Adam Roberts encouraged residents to nominate a person or group that exemplified generosity, leadership and community spirit.

“Our region is full of people who dedicate their time, energy and passion to go above and beyond for others,” he said.

“This is what makes our community special. The awards are a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on their contributions and celebrate these remarkable people.”

Other awards will include:

– Citizen of the Year, recognising an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the Port Macquarie Hastings community.

– Young Citizen of the Year, which recognises an outstanding young person aged 25 years or under by 26 January.

Nominees can be volunteers, mentors, local clubs or community champions whose efforts are often behind the scenes.

Nominating someone is a chance to share their story – and inspire others to follow their lead.
