SEVENTEEN-year-old Camden Haven High School student Chloe Gaskin-Hogan is heading into Year 12 with big sporting goals ahead of her.
A club champion at Laurieton Swimming Club for the last nine years, she has competed at national-level competitions in freestyle and backstroke, as well as playing goal defence in a social netball league.
However, her true passion since the age of nine has been rugby league, and with her supportive parents, Jarryd and Racheal, being huge league fans, this was always going to be a natural progression.
Chloe told News Of The Area, “my favourite thing is honestly playing with all my teammates and constantly learning new skills.”
“I’m grateful to my parents for the opportunities they have given me in sport and to my coaches that have helped me get to where I am today.”
She plays for the Camden Haven Junior Eagles and has participated in a Group Three representative side and the Newcastle Development Squad, as well as being selected for the Mid North Coast Bulldogs.
Chloe is currently training with an open women’s side for the Lisa Fiaola Cup, named after the well-known former dual international who represented Australia in rugby league and rugby union.
This prestigious competition kicks off in Lismore on 14 February, where they will go up against Northern Rivers.
Chloe is keen to see more girls discover a love for rugby league, with her long-term personal aim to be selected for the NRL.
As the daughter of a proud First Nations New Zealander, the Warriors would be her ultimate pick.
