COMBOYNE mountain biker Luke Meier-Smith has won his fourth back-to-back Australian downhill title.
It means the 23-year-old has equalled the national record held by Troy Brosnan and Tracey Hannah.
Described as one of the most exciting downhill racers to watch this season, Meier-Smith completed the 1.8km slippery track at Mt Buller last weekend in a time of 2:53:907.
He was 1.532 seconds ahead of Jackson Connelly, with Zac Bradley completing the top three.
Luke’s brother Remy came an impressive 14th in the field of 47 finishers.
The elite women’s national downhill title was won by Elleni Turkovic.
Luke’s ride through Victoria’s high country extends an impressive winning streak.
He rode to a breakthrough World Cup victory at Lake Placid last October, and also won at Crankworx Rotorua earlier this month and Crankworx Christchurch in February.
He now turns his attention to the start of the UCI Downhill World Cup Series, with Round 1 due to be held in South Korea in early May.
