CAMDEN Haven’s community heroes have been celebrated with a morning tea during National Volunteer Week.
Sponsored by the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce and News Of The Area (NOTA), the celebration was hosted by Stone Real Estate in Laurieton.
Organised by NOTA Client Account Manager Chantelle Ansell, the event recognised representatives of local organisations for their community efforts over the last twelve months.
“I organise the Volunteers’ Morning Tea because volunteers are the quiet achievers in our community,” Chantelle said.
“They give their time, their hearts and often go unnoticed.
“This morning tea is just a small way to say thank you, bring people together and recognise the difference they make every single day.”
Certificates of thanks and recognition were given to Food Connect,The Nurtured Village Hampers, Blah Blah Blah Coffee for Blokes, United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service Camden Haven Brigade and Bonny Hills Brigade, NSW State Emergency Service Camden Haven Unit, Kendall Op Shop, Aussie Battlers, Kendall Men’s Shed, Rotary Club of Laurieton, Camden Haven Surf Life Saving Club, Heart Health NSW Camden Haven and Community at 3.
Chamber of Commerce President Luke Hadfield told News Of The Area, “Volunteers are an integral part of our community and the fabric that keeps so many organisations, events and services running.”
Research estimates more than five million people across Australia participate in volunteering activities every year.
Carrying out unpaid work within the community has been linked to better mental health, increased social connection, improved skills and serves as an indicator of wellbeing and social cohesion.
National Volunteer Week is held annually in May.
This year’s theme of “Your Year To Volunteer” honoured the contributions of volunteers and encouraged people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.
CSo often they give their time quietly, without recognition or fuss, simply because they care about making our community a better place.
We’re incredibly fortunate in Camden Haven to have so many passionate and selfless local volunteers, and the morning tea was a small opportunity to say thank you for everything they do.”
Volunteer week ran 18-24 May.
