THE Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce is establishing four new subcommittees to enable greater community participation and to strengthen advocacy across four key focus areas.
Following consultation with local businesses and residents, the subcommittees are Neighbourhood Watch, Beautification, Accessibility and Inclusion, and Events.
Chamber Treasurer Amy Vandenhurk told News Of The Area, “Having a subcommittee made up of unique and varied individuals who each share a common goal can result in some genuine change and actual results.
“I hope that by creating greater awareness and actioning ideas that there may be a collective impact that improves the experience of those who live, work and holiday here.
“I love the village vibe, the rich history and the many natural wonders that we are surrounded by, and I hope that we can work to preserve them, celebrate them and make them accessible to everyone.”
The Chamber will work with members, the community, and service organisations, to identify priorities and help drive positive outcomes for the Camden Haven.
Suggested projects include installing Christmas and other seasonal decorations, seasonal planter boxes, a street library and bench seating.
Chamber Executive Committee member Chantelle Ansell believes the subcommittees are important because they give people something to work towards and a chance to be involved in something they are truly passionate about.
“Whether someone can spare an hour or five hours, every contribution makes a difference.
“As the saying goes, many hands make light work, I hope to see the subcommittees bring fresh ideas, positive outcomes and continued support for our community.
“What I love most about living in the Camden Haven is the strong community spirit, the beautiful surroundings, and the willingness of people to come together to help make our area even better.”
The initiative will be launched at the Ageing Well Expo at Laurieton United Services Club on 18 June with the first activity scheduled for early July.
