Kudos for Port Macquarie and wider Mid North Coast tourism operators

SEVERAL Port Macquarie and Hastings tourism operators have been recognised among the finalists in the 2026 North Coast Regional Tourism Awards, highlighting the region’s strength as a visitor destination.

Presented by NSW Tourism Association and Destination North Coast, the awards celebrate businesses, experiences and organisations delivering exceptional visitor experiences while contributing to the growth of the regional tourism economy.

Among those representing Port Macquarie this year are Port Macquarie Museum, Positive Energy Adventures & Retreats, MidCoast Council’s Destination Barrington Coast, Discovery Parks Forster, and Spare Chef Catering.

Finalists will now progress through the awards program and receive industry recognition and feedback as part of the judging process.

Successful entrants may advance to the NSW Tourism Awards later this year, with state winners potentially progressing to the Australian Tourism Awards in 2027.

The finalists were selected from entries submitted across the North Coast and represent a diverse range of tourism offerings, including accommodation, attractions, tours, events, food and drink experiences, and visitor services.

NSW Tourism Association Chief Executive Officer Natalie Godward said reaching finalist status was a significant achievement.

“Being named a finalist is a significant accomplishment and a reflection of the passion, professionalism and commitment these businesses bring to our regional visitor economies every day,” Ms Godward said.

Destination North Coast general manager Michael Thurston said the awards recognised the people and businesses helping to drive the region’s tourism success.

“These finalists represent the very best of the North Coast visitor economy. Their commitment to excellence not only enhances the visitor experience but also supports local jobs, businesses and communities across the region,” Mr Thurston said.

The North Coast Regional Tourism Awards form part of the broader NSW Tourism Awards program, providing businesses with a pathway to state and national recognition.

Winners will be announced at the 2026 North Coast Regional Tourism Awards Gala at Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour on 30 July.
