LETTER: You might not know this, but …

DEAR News Of The Area,

I WRITE to share information I have only just learned and I am wondering how many people, like myself, have been unaware of the NSW government’s Urgent Care Service.

This is a telephone service for people that need fast treatment for an illness or injury that doesn’t need a visit to an emergency department, or to avoid a long wait in a busy emergency department and if it isn’t possible to make a GP appointment.

Examples of conditions that can be dealt with are minor cuts, infections and burns; sprains, sport injuries, urinary tract infections, insect or animal bites, rashes, colds and flu. The Healthdirect phone number is 1800 022 222 and operates 24/7.

Further information is available at  https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Hospitals/Pages/urgent-care-services.aspx

Also I believe the following is little known: for 12 months from 1 September, registration of privately owned light vehicles will be given a $100 discount by the NSW government. It will be automatically applied.

Regards,

Sue Baker,

Dunbogan.
