Letter to the Editor: Dangerous ideas on climate change

DEAR News Of The Area,

ONCE again David Lawrence from Dunbogan is making erroneous claims that climate change is a conspiracy promulgated by the United Nations and that the Covid vaccine was ineffective and unsafe.

This disinformation is dangerous and completely unhelpful as we face the dire threats from the increase in CO2 in our atmosphere.

While we may not necessarily agree with the most effective solutions to ameliorate the effects of global warming, we are mad and irresponsible if we don’t at least make an effort to address this major threat to our way of living.

The science about global warming and its causes and effects is well established and Mr Lawrence’s position is untenable.

In regard to his comments about the Covid vaccine, a recent study of almost half the population of France has shown that young and middle-aged people who had been vaccinated against COVID-19 with mRNA vaccines have been 74 percent less likely to subsequently die from COVID-19.

More notably, those who had been vaccinated were a quarter less likely to die in the following four years from any cause than those who were not vaccinated.

Regards,
Les MITCHELL,
Port Macquarie.
