DEAR News Of The Area,
ANYONE aware of Donald Trump ignoring advice from the Chairman from The Joint Chiefs of Staff, and listening to the outcry coming from US military experts, ex-CIA strategists and retired veterans over the unprovoked Israeli-led US strike on Iran, would be expecting a more cautionary muted response from our Government leaders; but no.
Except for the opposition from the Greens’ David Shoebridge, this was our “we’re with stupid” moment.
Ted O’Brien was quick out of the blocks with a “We can’t have a murderous regime with a nuclear weapon!”
Maybe he meant to say “two murderous regimes…”; given that Israel already is one.
While Albanese and Wong had to be dragged in to acknowledging Australian personnel embedded in the US operation, Cash was getting up a letter of ‘congratulations’ to the US in the senate.
Whatever for?
Surely not for vaporising a school full of children?
You also wouldn’t congratulate the US Secretary of State Rubio for being so focused on their fatal treacherous fake negotiation strategy that no Plan B was in place for the evacuation of the hundreds of thousands of US and allied personnel, plus tourists, including over 100,000 Australians, now stranded in a war zone?
You wouldn’t congratulate anyone on the massive disruption to global oil and gas supplies and negative impacts on an already straining global economy?
Neither would you congratulate them for the sickening hyper-macho video published by self-proclaimed “Secretary of War” Hegseth, combining US action movie clips with actual footage of their atrocities? Really!
Is our Government so devoid of courage and intelligence that this is the best we can do?
Regards,
Dave WOOD,
Mid North Coast.
