A GARAGE sale in Thrumster this weekend will help a local family raise funds for Frankie, their Labrador puppy, who is in desperate need of surgery.
Frankie and his five siblings did not have an easy start to life. Rescued from a rundown property in western NSW, they lived in deplorable conditions.
Unfortunately, one of Frankie’s siblings did not survive, and three of the other pups were diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia, making walking painful.
Frankie’s owner, Port Macquarie local Robyn Bignell, told News Of The Area that little Frankie will need two hip replacements for the chance to live an active, pain-free life.
Both Bignell and her husband were forced into retirement due to illness, meaning funds for what will be expensive surgeries are beyond them.
So, on Saturday 7 November, she will host a garage sale on the corner of Bestglenn Place and Strathallan Terrace in Thrumster, Port Macquarie.
With assistance from the Garage Sale Trail Foundation, the sale will run from 8am until 2pm.
Bignell said it is an opportunity to bring the community together to find great bargains, and most importantly, to help them raise funds for their fur baby’s surgery.
“We’ve gathered an extraordinary collection of treasures — beautiful furniture, rare vintage homewares, designer clothing, books, toys, tools, exercise equipment and lots of unusual and sought-after finds,” she said.
Each purchase will bring Frankie and his family closer to achieving their goal of a brighter future.
