Camden Haven community support shines through for the homeless.

COMMUNITY at 3 Inc. Chairman Theo Hazelgrove has thanked the local community for its remarkable support of people doing it tough over the Christmas period.

In the two weeks leading up to Christmas, Community at 3 assisted 164 people, providing food, support and connection at a time when many experienced heightened isolation and hardship.

One of the most significant outcomes was the reunification of four homeless individuals with their families after many years of separation and family fracture.

“These are the moments that remind us why this work matters,” Mr Hazelgrove said.

“Seeing people reconnect with their families after years apart is incredibly powerful, and it simply would not be possible without the compassion of our community and volunteers.”

The four individuals were transported to reunite with family members in Sydney, Newcastle, Tamworth and Kempsey. Mr Hazelgrove acknowledged the volunteers who personally drove people home, as well as the many others who assisted at the organisation’s Christmas barbeque.

“Our volunteers give far more than their time,” he said.

“They give dignity, care and hope to people who often feel forgotten.”

Mr Hazelgrove also extended special thanks to Staffan Andler and the staff at Kew Corner Store, Dean Noble and Kew Country Club, and Regional Australia Bank for their continued generosity and support.

The Community at 3 weekly barbeque will resume on Wednesday 14 January at 2.30 pm at Kew Country Club, continuing its role as a vital point of connection for those in need within the community.6
