THE Common Thread exhibition currently on show in Port Macquarie brings together the voices of artists participating in the Shared Practice mentoring program with Arts Mid North Coast, offering a compelling glimpse into the early stages of their creative development.
Presented at MAKE/SPACE Port Macquarie in Port Central, the exhibition features work by Lucy Juhnke, Kellie De Waal, Olivia Cotovich, Bee Hudson, Kelly Joy, Rosalyn Fuhrer, Anne de Nooijer, Joel Easson and Brad Collins. Together, their works form a considered snapshot of evolving ideas, processes and emerging artistic directions.
Shared Practice is an 18-month artist development program that supports emerging and mid-career visual artists across the region.
“Shared Practice is about creating meaningful connections between artists, mentors and community,” said Programs Manager Skye Petho.
“Programs like this are vital in supporting artists to develop confidence in their practice while strengthening the creative sector across the Mid North Coast.”
Through mentoring from experienced artists, group sessions and professional development opportunities, the program encourages creative growth, artistic exploration and community engagement.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 13–23 May and will be staffed by participating artists, offering visitors the opportunity to engage directly with the makers behind the work.
