KENDALL Tennis Club served up quite a racket on Friday 12 December, as community members, players and even Santa came together to celebrate the club’s tenth year at its current site.
The milestone event also celebrated the official opening of the club’s new mini clubhouse and boundary fencing, with President of Tennis NSW Melissa Achten, attending the festivities.
The completion of the mini clubhouse marked Stage 7 of the club’s development, a $60,000 project made possible through strong community and industry support.
Funding included a $12,000 contribution from the Tennis NSW Facility Enhancement Fund and a generous $17,000 donation from the Kendall Community OpShop.
Additional support was provided by Designer Living Kitchens, Ben Vial Electrical, Adam Holster Painting and Martin Hocking Builder.
“Today’s celebration is very special,” said Kendall Tennis Club President Wendy Hudson.
“It has been a remarkable year, and what a great way to celebrate our 10-year anniversary with the completion of our mini clubhouse.
“Over $1.4m in grants and funding has been raised by the club and the community across the last 10 years, resulting in numerous site improvements and initiatives.
“Our on-court results this year have also been outstanding, with several club juniors progressing through to both regional and state events.
“It is fantastic to see such a strong turn out for our end of grand finals and presentations.”
President of Tennis NSW, Melissa Achten, praised Wendy’s dedication and leadership within the tennis community.
“This is the 7th project that Wendy Hudson has completed since being located at this site,” she said.
“The amount of work [she] puts in for Tennis NSW is astronomical, so it was a pleasure to be invited.
“It takes a community to drive tennis, but it also takes someone strong to lead that community and Wendy does that.
“She is one of the best in the state and she keeps giving.”
