SPORTING clubs and community organisations across the Port Macquarie electorate are being encouraged to apply for funding through the NSW Government’s 2026/27 Local Sport Grant Program, with up to $50,000 available locally to help strengthen grassroots sport.

Grants ranging from $2,000 to $20,000 are available to support projects that increase participation, improve facilities, purchase equipment and deliver programs that make sport more accessible and inclusive.

Member for Port Macquarie Robert Dwyer said the funding program provided an important boost for local sporting organisations working hard to keep communities active and connected.

“Local sporting clubs are at the heart of our communities, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to stay active, build friendships and enjoy the many benefits of sport,” Mr Dwyer said.

“The Local Sport Grant Program helps clubs purchase essential equipment, deliver new programs and improve facilities so they can continue the fantastic work they do across our region.

“I encourage every eligible sporting organisation to jump online, submit an application and make the most of this opportunity to strengthen community sport across the Port Macquarie electorate.”

The program supports projects that increase participation and improve player retention, create inclusive opportunities for under-represented groups and strengthen the long-term sustainability and capability of community sporting organisations.

Funding can be used to purchase new equipment, deliver participation initiatives or undertake facility upgrades that benefit local clubs and participants.

Mr Dwyer highlighted the success of last year’s funding round, which supported several organisations across the electorate, including Football Mid North Coast, Laurieton Tennis Club, Port Macquarie Rowing Club and Hastings Valley Motor Cycle Club.

Statewide, the NSW Government invested $4.49 million through the Local Sport Grant Program last year, supporting 586 community sport projects.

Applications for the 2026/27 program close at 1:00pm on Monday, 17 August 2026.

Eligible sporting organisations are encouraged to submit their applications before the closing date to be considered for this year’s funding opportunities.
