Kendall Blues ‘Bikes For Kids’ initiative arrives just in time for Christmas

THE Kendall Blues delivered three utes full of bicycles to Aussie Battlers in Laurieton on Saturday, 13 December, ready for distribution to local families.

It was the result of months of planning from the footy club, who launched the “Bikes For Kids” initiative earlier this year to support the work of the local charity.

The brainchild of club Vice President Troy Taylor, the initiative aimed to purchase brand-new bikes for local families facing financial hardship, ensuring more kids have a happy Christmas this year.

“Many families in our community are doing it tough, and a lot more than you would imagine,” Troy said.

“We are incredibly proud and humbled to have this opportunity to support our neighbours and make a real difference for local kids.”

Describing Aussie Battlers founder Karen Sparks as a “special person”, Kendall Blues Old Boys Association’s Peter Hollins said it was an “easy choice” selecting a charity for the club to support in 2025.

Ms Sparks said she was overwhelmed by the support.

“I can’t believe how generous the Kendall Blues are,” she said.

“I am so happy that they chose us.

“So many families will have a better Christmas now.

“It’s very emotional when people recognise the work we are doing for the community.”

The Kendall Blues and Aussie Battlers want to thank the many sponsors who supported the “Bikes For Kids” cause: Camden Haven Tyre & Service Centre, 5 Star Steel, Jason’s Concreting, Phil Dykes Auto, Elixer Of Beauty Lakewood, Kendall Beer & Wine, Infinity Fuel Kew, Kew Tyres & Auto, Colortile Port Macquarie, Hodgo’s Tiling, Kew Corner Store, Green Frog Avocados, Royal Hotel Kew, Kickback Handyman, BMD Surfboards, JRB Joinery, AE Gibson Engineering, MNC Solar and McCarron Plumbing.
